What Is VPN Obfuscation?

VPN obfuscation (also called stealth VPN or cloaking) is a technique that disguises VPN traffic to look like regular HTTPS web traffic. This prevents deep packet inspection (DPI) from detecting and blocking VPN connections.

Why Obfuscation Matters

• Restrictive countries: China, Russia, Iran actively block VPN protocols
• Corporate networks: Some workplaces and schools block VPN connections
• ISP throttling: Some ISPs throttle detected VPN traffic

How It Works

Obfuscation wraps VPN packets in an additional layer that makes them appear identical to standard HTTPS traffic on port 443. Since blocking HTTPS would break the entire internet, this traffic passes through even aggressive firewalls.
